ASTON look to have turned the corner in the Cheshire Alliance after a sticky start.

A troubled beginning to the season had bosses concerned, but a recent upturn in results and performances has borne new optimism. On Saturday they dismissed Kingsley with ease.

Batting first, Glyn Davies (31), Andy Leese (33) and 19-year-old Michael Forester (33no) performed well to give their side a good chance on 159-7. Kingsley spinner Matty Ollier also continued his run of good form to dismiss three Aston batsmen.

But Ollier's side never had the bat in hand as wickets fell regularly to the variable bounce extracted by Aston seamers. Only Mark Butcher (30) managed to hold on for any length of time, but after he was out Kingsley capitulated to 117ao with two overs remaining. Phil Little took 3-54, Andy Leese recorded 3-33, Pat Beesley got 2-15, while 18-year-old Simon Newton took 2-11.

Also in Division One, Sandbach beat neighbours Chelford by eight wickets.

Batting first, Chelford scored 122ao, with captain Mark Shallcross and James Oddy grabbing five wickets each.

An excited 52no by Jason Lath-am was aided by Andy Williams (19), James Hutchin (10) and Janath De Silva (28 not out) as Sandbach recorded 123-2.

In Division Two, Wistaston Village beat Glazebury, racing to 80-2 before dismissing their opponents for 76.

Bunbury saw off Kerridge, surpassing their host's total of 204, while Audlem's knock of 124-2 eased past Heaton Mersey's 123ao.
