The wait has gone on long enough. We need football back.

Luckily there is a mouthwatering match around the corner for Chester FC.

There is no getting away from it - the Blues badly let their supporters down at Prenton Park last season.

But assistant boss Ian Sharps assures the 'players are up for' Saturday's trip to Tranmere Rovers.

You can read what former Rovers favourite Sharps has to say about the match - and his reunion with Mickey Mellon - HERE.

Tranmere team news

Rovers are set to feature two 'new' boys in their squad for Saturday.

They have followed up the capture of striker Andy Mangan by also re-signing midfielder Adam Dawson.

Both could make their second debuts for the club against the Blues.

But Tranmere manager Mellon will be without Connor Jennings and Steven Jennings through injury, and possibly Jake Kirby too, James Norwood through suspension, as well as Lois Maynard, who is away on international duty with Saint Kitts and Nevis.

FA Cup memories

It will be Chester's first game in two weeks after their early exit from the FA Cup.

Two years ago today the reformed Blues were celebrating their best success yet in the competition.

Ben Heneghan and Craig Mahon got the goals at Roots Hall as Steve Burr's side recorded a shock 2-1 win over Southend United.

What a day it was.

Bolton date confirmed

Chester's youth team will be looking to make memories of their own when they face Bolton Wanderers in the second round of the FA Youth Cup.

A date for the eagerly anticipated clash has now been confirmed - you can find out when it is HERE.
