THE Jets are still waiting for their first BBL win of 2010 after they were beaten by the lowly Wolves last night.

Paul Smith’s side lost the first period 22-12 and were unable to recover despite 15 points from James Hamilton and 12 each from Stephen Gayle and Shawn Myers.

The fourth-placed Jets, who welcome second-placed Newcastle Eagles to the Northgate Arena tomorrow (5.30pm), have made an addition to their squad ahead of their BBL Cup final showdown with Sheffield Sharks on Sunday week.

American Jerrah Young, a 6ft 7in forward, hails from Chicago and started his career at the University of Toledo in Ohio before moving to Cork in Ireland to play for UCC Demons, where, alongside current Jets star Colin O’Reilly, he averaged an impressive 22.2 points per game.

Jets boss Smith said: “I’m really looking forward to Jerrah joining the rest of the team. We’ve had a solid start to the season but we need someone who can bring that bit of extra hustle and rebounding expertise to the game.

“Jerrah comes highly recommended by Colin after the two played together at UCC in Cork. They know how the other plays so they can build on their strengths.

“This will be useful for all the team going into the second half of the season. I’m looking forward to seeing him on court when it matters.”
