TCS Chester Jets' lead in the BBL has been cut to just two points following successive defeats by their nearest rivals Newcastle Eagles (99-90) last Thursday and by London Towers at home on Sunday (99-85).

If Eagles win their game in hand the Jets will lose the top place for the first time for weeks.

Sunday night's defeat was embarrassing for coach Paul Smith who was up against his former mentor Robbie Peers, the ex-Jets coach, now the playcaller with the Towers.

Jets were always behind, losing the first quarter 26-17 and although they closed to 42-40 at half-time the Towers ran away with it to lead 71-62 at the end of the third quarter and romped home for a convincing in a one-sided final session victory.
