John Coffino says his troops will be ready to do battle on Sunday as Cheshire Phoenix welcome second-placed Worcester Wolves to the Northgate Arena in the BBL Championship (5.30pm).

Last Sunday’s win over the Bristol Flyers kept fourth-placed Cheshire in touch with the leading pack but head coach Coffino knows this weekend’s test will push his players to the limit.

“Worcester are second for a reason and they have excellent perimeter and inside players,” he said.

“This is a major game for many reasons. We could move up the ladder, take the lead in the head-to-head and show we can be up there and hang with the big boys.”

The Nix were beaten by the Wolves 83-67 away from home at the beginning of the season but produced a stunning performance to exact revenge at the Northgate with a 96-86 win in December.

“We have home court advantage again and the backing of the best fans in the league,” added Coffino.

“This group of players is resilient and were gutsy against Bristol.

“We’ll be working on some stuff and making sure we’re ready to tough it out with Worcester.”
