Subway and Heart Research UK have teamed up with Cheshire Phoenix to offer healthy living advice to school children.
Chez Marks, Alif Bland and Jerome Gumbs kick-started the Healthy Hearts programme in eight primary schools in Ellesmere Port with the charity and sandwich chain Subway.
All pupils in year groups 5 and 6 took part in a classroom based session on healthy hearts, where students learn about why it is important to have a healthy heart and how to achieve a healthy heart through a healthy, balanced diet and a session on the effects of smoking on the heart.
Then they enjoyed a practical session on fitness, where the focus was on the heart, its function within the body and how to keep the heart healthy followed by a fun fitness and basketball session.
The players will return over the next six weeks to deliver basketball coaching to the schools.
There will also be a tournament with the winning two teams playing a game during half time at a Cheshire Phoenix game.
