Cheshire Phoenix have vowed to put the controversial BBL Trophy semi final exit to Glasgow Rocks behind them.

Nix guard Michael Creppy missed the second leg after being hit with a one-game ban only 28 hours before the game.

Creppy was suspended for a clash with Rocks forward Gareth Murray in a game six weeks earlier despite the BBL disciplinary committee ruling there was no case to answer

Rocks appealed that decision and the panel overturned the original ruling but Nix were not aware an appeal had been lodged.

Rocks went on to win the second leg and will face Worcester Wolves in the final in Glasgow.

Nix remain unhappy with the handling of the matter but chairman Andrew Donaldson said the club would now move on.

“We will focus on the future and not dwell on the past,” he said.

Donaldson said the club had ‘exceeded expectations’ in its first full season and would be looking to end the campaign on a high.

But the chairman believes the ban handed to Creppy has highlighted issues with the BBL disciplinary process and plans to follow his concerns up with league offices.

Donaldson said: “From what I understand, in the close season the league has open discussions with all franchises about rules and processes and the clubs are given the opportunity to suggest changes and improvements so that the league continually improves.

“We intend to evaluate our experience very carefully and enter a dialogue with the BBL to hopefully create a clearer and more robust disciplinary policy that is fair to all parties at all stages of the process and we believe that this will ultimately benefit every BBL club in future.”
