A perfect run of results during December has seen John Lavery named Molten BBL Coach of the Month.
Phoenix have banished memories of a turbulent start to the season with an eye-catching charge up the table.
Lavery masterminded wins over Newcastle Eagles, Surrey United, Manchester Giants and Durham Wildcats to fire the Nix into the play-offs.
It is the first time the 46-year-old, who is in his second spell in charge, has won the award.
Nix have won both games this month to extend the unbeaten run but are not in action this weekend.
Lavery accepts there is a possibility the break could interrupt his side’s momentum but believes his players will welcome the chance to rest up.
“It can work both ways and having this weekend off could help us or it could hinder us,” he said.
“Our form before Christmas was fantastic and we had a little rest and came back into the double-header and went out strong so that break helped us.
“Who knows how it will go but personally I think it will be good for us as we have a short rotation.”
Nix captain Reggie Middleton and star forward Victor Moses have been named in the first BBL Team of the Week of 2014.
Both excelled in the wins over Birmingham Knights and Plymouth Raiders.
