Cheshire FA Amateur Cup

Helsby held a 2-1 interval lead at Knutsford in the third round but went out 4-3 after conceding a last-gasp winner. The Greens netted via Gary Jones, Dean Walker and an own goal but the West Cheshire League outfit bowed out in heartbreaking fashion.

Cheshire League side Malpas made it through to the next round with a 2-0 home win over Vauxhall Motors. Alex Hughes scored on 65 and 80 minutes after the Motormen had been reduced to 10 men.

Deva Athletic did the Chester & Wirral League proud but bowed out 3-2 after extra time at the hands of hosts Crewe FC. Lee Constantine and Gav Roberts accounted for Deva’s goals.

Chester & District Sunday League

Just the one game survived the weather with St Theresa’s came back from two down to beat Vicars Cross Dynamos 3-2 in Section A.

Dynamos opened up a decent lead through Paul Sweeney and Todd Reid but Tom George got one back from the spot before the break. Aden Parker equalised on 65 minutes and then netted the winner in the 75th minute.

In the Wirral District FA Sunday Junior Cup, Ellesmere Port-based Purple Olive went out 2-0 at The Lord Nelson in the third round.

Chester & Wirral League

Newton Athletic drew level with Blacon Thistle at the top of Division One thanks to a 4-3 win over Cestrian Alex. A brace a piece for Dan Eaton and Lewis Davenport cancelled out replies from Adi Gough, Joe Walters and Rob Dixon.

Allesandro Malletta (2), Mike Robinson (2) and Ethan Jones gave Chester Nomads 3rds a 5-1 win over Lodge Bar while Dean Rattcliffe’s treble, Mark Hughes (2), Paul Gunderson, Richard Callis and Sean Bretland fired Ashton to an 8-2 home win over Elton Athletic.

Neston Town came out on top in their derby with Neston Nomads, winning 2-0 thanks to Kieran Gilbody and Martin Coan.

Birkenhead Town remain top of the Premier Division after a 3-0 victory over Ellesmere Port Town Reserves through Gino King (2) and Lee Gibson.

Lodge Bar remain just two points behind after thrashing Uberlube 11-2 with four goals form Ilya Haycock. Craig Chesworth, Joe Cossins, Aled Gardener, Liam Mackin, Tom Smith, George Pulford and Lee Stephens got the rest.

Peter Barnett scored a hat-trick as Ellesmere Port thumped Christleton Celtic 9-2. Nicky Monaghan (2), Ian Forster (2), Matty Earlam and Daniel Woodcock completed the win.

Lache overcame Higher Bebington Kelma 6-3 via Warren Kelly (2), Sam Spridgeon (2), Sam Buckley and Ryan Cunliffe. Andy Grimes, Mark Lawler and Tim Wilson responded.

Adam Bagley netted twice as New Ferry Rangers continue to impress in Division Two, beating Crossway 4-1. Scott Christian and Chris Caress got the others with Phil Goss responding.

Goals from Mike Bryant, Liam Gough and Alex Hutchinson were not enough to stop Hoole Rangers losing 7-4 to Eastham Athletic while Dave Jacks and Ian Thomas gave Orange Athletic a 2-1 win over Ellesmere Port Town 3rds.

In the Doug Johnson Veterans Shield, Gary Southerton scored for Ashton in a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Nags Head Bunbury. Dee Rangers and Tarvin drew 2-2 with Dan O’Donnell and Vinnie Burden netting for Rangers. Tony Buckley hit a brace for Blacon Youth in a 4-0 win over Crossway with Lee McElmeel and Scott Broadbent the other scorers. Matthew Nield bagged a hat-trick for Frodsham Park in a 3-1 win over Tattenhall.

West Cheshire League

Chester Nomads ran out convincing 4-1 winners over visiting Capenhurst Villa in Division One.

Jack Delgado, Simon Andrews, Daniel Farrell and Josh Carew obliged for Nomads with Phil Quilliam notching the response for Villa.

Despite finding the net three times through Aaron Hinchcliffe (2) and Jordan Churchill at Rainhill Town, Blacon Youth Club ended up losing 6-3.

Upton AA were on the wrong end of a 4-2 scoreline at home to Heswall in an entertaining game at The Cheshire County Sports Club.

Chris Melia and Todd Reid netted for Upton but Gary O’Toole (2), Andy Kingam and Chris Hughes ensured the points went back to the Wirral.

In Division Three, leaders Upton AA Reserves lost 3-1 against Heswall Reserves with Jack Horrocks, Andy Jones and veteran Gordon Harrison cancelling out Steve Millington’s effort.

Chester Nomads Reserves trounced Capenhurst Villa Reserves 8-1 thanks to a hat-trick from Charlie Mann, doubles for Scott Evans and Ryan Trousedale, and a Will Cater strike with Maurice Doyle getting the consolation for Cape.

Cheshire League

    Edward Pattinson and Mark Pearson netted in a 2-1 win Tarporley Victoria at Egerton in League One.
