West Cheshire AC celebrated a hat-trick of victories at the opening round of the North West Sportshall League.

The competition was staged at Kingsway Leisure Centre, Widnes, and it saw Michael Ozoemelam, Tom Weaver, Michael Maxwell, Zak Edwards, Jared Dyke and Matthew Webb combined for success in the under 11 boys section.

Tamsin O’Keefe, Anna Crayston, Abbie Pawlett, Jess Hall, Annabel Hemingbrough, Hollie Jones, Lauren Jones, Molly Jones, Jemma Moulton, Emily Misatoni, Raimi Harrison, Emma Ashcroft, Cerys Gaffney, Sophie Cribb and Hannah Edwards grabbed victory in the U11 girls team competition.

The golden treble was completed by the West Cheshire U13 boys team of Will Scott, Ewan Brandon, Paul Morrison, Jac Goodall, Daniel Pagan, Rory Willson, George Booth and Finnian Bowyer.

The U15 boys quartet of Cameron Weaver, George Campbell, Joseph Morrison and Ethan Milligan teamed up for second position.

Georgia Barlow, Alice Barnsley, Sophie Carter, Vanessa Ozoeleman, Sophie Hemingbrough and Abbie Williams worked hard to earn the U15 girls team second spot.

And Keane Harrison, Beth McMahon, Maisie Tipping, Issy Clarke, Ruth Campbell, Erin Stuart, Emma Bailey, Rhona Cook, Chloe Lloyd and Danielle Lukins delivered second place for West Cheshire’s U13 girls team.

Tamsin O’Keefe won the U11 girls race at the North Wales Junior Cross Country League fixture held at Llandudno.

The West Cheshire AC youngster was joined at the event by clubmates Adam Howe (fifth) and Daniel Pace (13th) who completed the U11 boys race, and Alex Mason (U13) and Harri Britton (U15).

Jack Chapman represented West Cheshire AC in the Manchester Area Cross Country League opening round at Heaton Park, Manchester, where he finished third in the U13 boys race with a time of 12 minutes 29 seconds, ahead of Jac Goodall who was 16th in 13:31, and Rory Willson (30th in 14:38).

Entries are being accepted for this year’s ESSAR Chester Round the Walls Race being promoted by West Cheshire Athletic Club on Boxing Day (10.30am start). Further details can be found at

Fixtures this weekend include the second round of the North Staffs Cross Country League at Stafford Common on Saturday (12.45pm start), and the opening round of the Liverpool and District Cross Country League at Arrowe Park, Birkenhead, also this Saturday (2pm start for men and women).

The Snowdonia Marathon takes place on Saturday from Nant Peris/ Llanberis (10.30am start), and the Halloween Hellraiser Nine Miles Race takes place on Sunday, at Willaston, Nantwich (10am start).
