Alan Povey has been elected as the new chairman of City Fans United, the supporters group which owns Chester FC.

The 33-year-old takes over the role vacated by Simon Olorenshaw.

Olorenshaw stepped down from the position at the start of the month because of increased work commitments.

Now Povey, who was co-opted onto the CFU board last year to work as its community director, has stepped into the brench.

The lifelong Blue is a retail manager for a large fashion brand and is married to Lyndsey and has a four-year-old son, Jacob.

Povey said: "I've supported the club for 30 years and to represent the CFU membership as chair is a wonderful honour.

"I hope to build on the hard work of previous board members and chairmen to improve the CFU.

"I would like to thank Simon Olorenshaw for all his hard work on the board."

Povey becomes the fifth CFU chairman after Olorenshaw, Grenville Millington, Tony Durkin and Chris Pilsbury.
