The New Homes Bonus Scheme pay-outs began earlier this month with the government handing out  up to s4m worth of payments.  This shows increasing signs of promise for those on plumbing courses and other associated trades as the demand for skilled workers in this sector is expected to rise.

The New Homes Bonus Scheme has been set up to address the disincentive within the local government finance system for local areas to welcome growth. Until now, increased housing in communities has meant increased strain on public services and reduced amenities.

Those on plumbing courses and other associated courses should be encouraged by this news as the government are keen to create new homes and increase jobs in this sector - raising the demand for qualified plumbers and construction workers.

Birmingham Council received one of the highest payouts of £3.2 million, for building new homes in and around the city; with Scarborough council receiving the smallest after 25 homes were built there.

In total, the government intends to spend £200m on the incentive this year and has allocated a total of £950m to spend over the spending review period to 2014.  Meaning the demand for people on plumbing courses is set to increase as more jobs in these sectors become available.

Housing minister Grant Shapps said: This country needs more homes, so we need the nation to start building again.  Thats why were giving communities a reason to say yes to new homes through these powerful cash incentives.
