A magical new show for children and their families is heading to Ellesmere Port as part of a national tour.

Bristol-based theatre company Silly Boys are travelling to Ellesmere Port to perform their new family show, The Elves and The Shoemaker and Other Stories at Whitby Hall Theatre.

The wacky new show sees the boys have a crack at some of the world’s favourite fairy tales including The Gingerbread Man, The Emperor’s New Clothes and the title story.

It is described as a typically bonkers and heartwarming take on some of the world’s favourite fairy tales brought to life using puppetry, live music and a huge dose of silliness.

The perfect treat for all the family is set in a dark forest, with the audience being guided through a selection of well-loved stories by three bewildered vagabonds, whose own reasons for being in the forest are a mystery.

Offering the prospect of big laughs and singalong songs, the show marks a significant achievement for the boys.

Having been commissioned by Colchester Arts Centre and backed by Arts Council England it will embark on a three-week run there during Christmas following an epic 50-date tour across the UK by the company including the trip to the Port.

The show can be seen at Whitby Hall Theatre in Whitby Park on Saturday, October 18, at 2pm.
