BRITAIN goes to the polls tomorrow. Here, some of the candidates spell out why they think that you should vote for them.

Whichever party appeals to you, make sure you use your vote. It’s a precious commodity that gives each of us a say in shaping the future of Britain and the way we tackle the massive economic problems that lie ahead for GB Plc.

I’ve been an MP for just two years now.

It’s been an immense and humbling privilege, and I want to carry on with my work for local people.

So, here’s three reasons why I would ask you to vote for me:

1. I have achieved for local people, from restoring the blue lights to the volunteer ambulance service for Nantwich, to securing funding for the regeneration of Crewe's Lyceum Square, to laying the political ground for Crewe's National Railway Skills Academy.

2. I put my constituents before my Party, and have rebelled on important local issues like reducing bingo taxation for 20,000 Crewe and Nantwich bingo players, and standing up for Crewe's Royal Mail sorting office.

3. I am a visible and accessible constituency MP. With a busy office open to all in Crewe town centre, I’m in Westminster only when I am fighting hard for local people's causes.

You can read my election report at www.edwardtimpson.com, which tells you what I think about all sorts of policy areas.

I was elected on a platform of strong local representation. But I was also elected against a backdrop of Gordon Brown’s callous decision to scrap the 10p rate of tax, hitting the poorest hardest.

It’s now the poorest who are going to be hit hardest again, as Gordon Brown, supported by his candidates, introduces a tax on jobs by raising National Insurance.

I have always fought for Crewe and Nantwich to realise its full potential, but without new jobs that will be tough.

I want to see new jobs created, not a tax on jobs.

It’s clear that we need a change of government to make that happen.

Crewe and Nantwich simply cannot afford another five years of Gordon Brown.

THREE weeks is certainly a long time in politics!

Before the first leaders debate, people in Crewe and Nantwich were polite and responsive to Liberal Democrat policies but believed that there were only two realistic choices for their vote.

Many people were fed-up with Labour but did not trust the Conservatives – with good reason given their plan to slash public spending this year and there refusal to tell us how!

But, now that voters know that polls show the three big parties are so close, many are moving towards the Liberal Democrats. This is why they should.

We’re committed to make big changes to the way Britain is governed to bring us into the 21st century e.g. getting big-money donors out of politics, electing the House of Lords, reforming the voting system.

We’ll radically reform the tax system to make the first £10,000 you earn free of tax, saving most people £700 per year. Unfortunately the rich will have to pay a bit more!

We’ll spend more money to improve our education system significantly, through smaller classes in primary schools and catch-up classes that work so well for pupils who fall behind in secondary schools.

We’ll bring green jobs to our area e.g. through our plans to refurbish 400 empty properties locally.

These are the principles Nick Clegg and his MPs will fight for if there is no overall majority.

The other parties are scared stiff that Liberal Democrats will actually change the rotten system that has seen them alternate power for 65 years.

So, if you really want to shake things up, vote for me, vote Liberal Democrat.

IT IS important the people of Crewe and Nantwich make the right decision at this General Election – not only for themselves but for the good of the country.

UKIP is the only major political party that will take Britain out of the European Union.

Around 85% of our laws coming from Brussels and British MEP’s hold only 9% of the votes in the European Parliament. We no longer rule ourselves even though the Lib/Lab/Con claim that we do.

Only by leaving the EU can immigration be cut to sustainable levels. EU law allows foreign workers and their dependants from member states to come to Britain and take British jobs away from the British people.

This must change and UKIP, unlike the Lib/Lab/Con, can and will do so.

UKIP wants to give the power back to the people through binding local and national referenda to force the government and local councils to follow the wishes of the people they serve.

We want tougher sentences for criminals to make our streets safe again.

UKIP came second in the European elections last year. This clearly indicates that the people of Britain want to leave the EU. Only from Westminster can we make this happen.

I have lived in Crewe and Nantwich my whole life and I have seen this country change for the worse.

I believe I can make it better not just for the people of Crewe and Nantwich but for the people of Britain.

A vote for me is a vote for democracy. It is a vote for freedom. It is a vote for independence and it is a vote for a better Britain.

LAST year, a survey found that 53% of people would ‘seriously consider’ voting for an Independent candidate at the next general election.

I’m your only alternative to the top-down elitist party system. An MP is meant to represent its constituency. However the public’s voice rarely counts in parliament as main party MPs must remain compliant to their party.

Out of the 310 times your current MP voted in parliament, he rebelled against his party a mere three. (source: www.publicwhip.org.uk). Is that really what you want?

I’m not scared to rock the boat. I get things done. I have a proven track record and unquestionable integrity.

As a councillor on Cheshire East, I have made being accessible a top priority, and given 100% to every person who has asked for my help.

I have paid for my campaign out of my own pocket, showing my commitment to serving the electorate.

Please do not be offended if you have not received one of my leaflets—without the money of a big party or wealthy donors behind me, it is impossible to print the vast number of leaflets necessary.

In a hung parliament, Independents can wield a significant amount of influence, as all parties rush to seek their support. This means an Independent MP has a unique bargaining power to gain advantages for his/her constituency.

Having an Independent MP would mark Crewe & Nantwich out nationally as a forward-thinking and dynamic constituency.

Independent MPs already exist and I predict more to come.

Help Crewe & Nantwich to add to this number and let your MP serve as a force for honesty and accountability in parliament.

I’M a strong local voice standing up for the people of Crewe and Nantwich.

As a former Rolls Royce apprentice, agent for Gwyneth Dunwoody and trade union political officer working in Parliament and with government, I’ll be a first-rate MP for Crewe and Nantwich.

I have personally spoken to thousands of constituents on the doorstep and by telephone; listening to peoples’ ideas and concerns, providing help and advice.

I know many voters protested at the by-election, safe in the knowledge that it would not lead to a Conservative government. This time, it’s different. This time it’s for real!

If the Tories hold on here we will probably have a Conservative government. I know many people are considering tactical voting to keep the Tories out in Crewe and Nantwich. That means voting Labour.

My priority is jobs and regeneration for the area. I have been struck by the number of people who now have to travel outside Crewe and Nantwich for work.

In fact many used to come into Crewe for work, including me – from Middlewich.

This is a failing of our Tory-controlled council who have dithered and delayed on major projects to boost our local economy and provide jobs. Every time they make a decision, Crewe and Nantwich comes off worst.

If elected, I will challenge this council to get on with developing the town centre, providing a new bus station, upgrading the railway station and building a road to Basford that could provide 7,000 to 8,000 new jobs for the area.

But if we have a Tory MP, a Tory Council and a Tory government determined to cut investment, Crewe and Nantwich will continue to be left behind.

If you trust me with a vote for Labour, I promise I will not let you down.
