Filming for a new ITV conspiracy thriller is underway in Northwich.

Robert Glenister and Game of Thrones star Indira Varma will star in eight-part series Paranoid, which tells the story of a female GP murdered in a rural children’s playground surrounded by eyewitnesses.

The drama, set in the fictional town of Marshwell in Cheshire, is written by acclaimed writer and producer Bill Gallagher whose credits include Lark Rise to Candleford.

Murder probe

A group of detectives try to piece together what happened that fateful morning but their investigation unexpectedly leads them across Europe, where members of ‘Cheshire Police Force’ then work alongside German law enforcement officers.

The cast – which also includes Neil Stuke, Lesley Sharo and Kevin Doyle – and crew began shooting in Cheshire on Monday (March 14) and Northwich and Knutsford have so far been used as filming locations.

Executive producer Nicola Shindler said: “We’re really excited to be working with Bill Gallagher again.

“He’s created a conspiracy thriller the audience won’t be able to look away from.

“It’s edgy, suspenseful and hugely ambitious as filming takes place in Cheshire and Germany.”

Paranoid will hit screens later this year.
