Funding has provided new equipment for a popular children’s play area.
The Ropewalk play area in Parkgate now has three extra pieces of play equipment thanks to funding secured by Cheshire West and Chester and Neston Town Councils.
The feature previously provided for younger primary school children but the addition of junior swings, a climbing frame and an all-inclusive roundabout provides much needed facilities for the 7 to 11 years age group.
The play area received £16,800 from the Bradley Park Community Fund through the Landfill Communities Fund which was match-funded by Neston Town Council, Parkgate borough councillor Martin Barker (Indt) through his member budget and and the borough council’s Kick Start Fund.
The money also enabled a new boundary fence for a neighbouring allotment which increases site security and enhances the boundary with the play area.
Little Neston and Burton borough councillor Louise Gittins (Lab), cabinet member for communities and wellbeing, said: “I’m delighted we worked closely with Neston Town Council to secure the funding for this exciting new play equipment.
“Everyone involved has done a wonderful job.
“Play areas like this are incredibly important in helping to ensure children have opportunities to safely take part in fun, physical outdoor activities.
“I’m sure this area will be very well-used.”
Deputy mayor of Neston Ceri Lloyd said: “The improved Ropewalk play area is the product of excellent partnership working that has implemented some of the ideas put forward by the children of Parkgate Primary School.
“Facilities such as these make an important contribution to the health and well-being of children and families in the area.
“We hope they enjoy many happy hours here.”
