A village hall floor has a new lease of life thanks to a grant from a housing group.

Greater Manchester-based Adactus Housing has made the £500 donation to Ness Village Hall in Neston, through its neighbourhood fund.

The wooden floor is said to be the main feature of the hall.

Home to the Wirral Theatre School, the building is used daily by community groups including a dance school which is in every evening along, with three football teams and art classes.

All this has been taking its toll on the hall’s wooden floor.

Trustees have invested thousands of pounds on the hall over the past year improving the windows, heating system, toilets and kitchen and the floor was the final area which required some work.

The hall says the grant from Adactus towards the repair and sanding of the main hall floor will make the building a much more usable centre for the community.

Trustee Leah Brookes, who has led the improvements, said: “We’ve always known the floor was a good floor, it just needed some attention. Now that is it done we aim to open up the hall for tea dances as the floor is a genuine dance floor.

“We hope the improvements will mean we can increase usage.”
