A mum has thanked two of her son’s friends for potentially ‘saving his life’ after a jet ski accident at Frodsham Watersports over the weekend.

Danielle Wilson, 34, of Knightsbridge Close, Widnes told the Chronicle that her son Caine, 16, had been to Frodsham Watersports on Saturday, June 4.

Her son – a Year 11 pupil at Saints Peter And Paul Catholic College on Highfield Road, Widnes – was being pulled along by a jet ski in a ring by his friend James Dyer, Danielle said.

She added that the jet ski was also pulling another one of Caine’s friends, William Tilliq, who was in another ring.

Danielle said that Caine and William ‘banged heads’ while travelling at 17mph on Saturday at 1.50pm after hitting a wave.

She has offered her thanks to both of the boys for ‘saving his life’ and added that it ‘could have been a total different’ story had Caine been under the water for longer.

After Danielle arrived at the venue later in the afternoon, she called an ambulance after seeing that his nose was bleeding and that Caine was ‘vomiting blood’.

He was sent to the major trauma unit at Aintree University Hospital with head, neck and back trauma, fluid on the lungs and a suspected broken cheek bone, but returned home on Tuesday she added.

Housewife Danielle added that Caine will now not be sitting his GCSEs this week and that he will have to sit his remaining exams next year at Saints Peter And Paul.

A North West Ambulance Service spokeswoman said that a call was received at 3.51pm and that a 16-year-old patient was taken to Aintree University Hospital complaining of back pain, with a cut to his cheekbone and was ‘feeling sick’.

James Dyer, the owner of Frodsham Watersports for 11 years, told the Chronicle that Caine was wearing a buoyancy aid at the time of the incident, which he said was a ‘freak accident’.

He added that his son – who was driving the jet ski – also has a Royal Yachting Association certificate which gives him permission and shows that he is ‘competent’ to use the machine in question.
