Rolls Royce will transform its two luxury cars with a new 'darker' alter ego, it has announced.

The brand has revealed the 'Black Badge' range of Rolls Royce cars to appeal to a younger, driven, and presumably rich drivers.

The new Rolls Royce Black Badge range will transform the Rolls Royce Ghost and Rolls Royce Wraith with a new black paint job. The company says the layers of paint and lacquer are hand polished, while previously chrome highlights are also painted black.

Inside, the Goodwood-based brand has introduced aerospace-grade aluminium-threaded carbon fibre - a composite material more often seen on stealth aircraft. The interior also boasted an 'Unlimited'-branded clock and logos, designed to celebrate Sir Malcolm Campbell's land speed record.

The new models also get a 'starlight' headliner, which is designed to reflect off the polished surfaces of the interior of the new Black Badge range.

Under the bonnet, both cars get engine tweaks to increase power and upgrades to the transmissions and brakes.

Philip Koehn, Director of Engineering at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, says: “Black Badge was a fascinating challenge for Rolls-Royce’s engineers. We were already dealing with pinnacle motor cars, referred to as the best cars in the world.

"It was vital to us that the aesthetic appeal and promise of Black Badge Ghost and Black Badge Wraith be underpinned by superlative engineering."

The new Rolls Royce range has been revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, where the world's largest car makers are announcing a host of new cars and upgrades to their models.
