Car buyers can now check if the used car they want to buy has been subject to a recall.

HPI Recall Check has been launched by the vehicle history expert to further improve the safety of potential car buyers.

The introduction of the check means if a recall notice has been missed by the seller the new car buyer will be able to find out about the notice using the recall checker.

Recalls can be issued to fix design faults with a car, and has hit the news recently when 235,000 Vauxhall Zafira models were recalled over an engine problem that has caused some cars to burst into flames.

Now HPI, which is a check used by used car buyers to find out if the car has previously been written off or has outstanding finance, will include a recall check to find the car's history.

HPI is hoping that the introduction of HPI Recall Check will give more power to the consumer and cement the UK’s vehicle recall process as one of the best as it already exceeds 90% in success rates.

Ian Rendle, Managing Director for cap hpi said: “It will remove any risk of them driving a vehicle that could have a safety flaw.

“Being armed with information that gives you the fullest possible picture on the car you are about to buy is vital in supporting a sound investment and avoiding future financial and emotional heartache.”

Further this recall check is the only one that provides recall information on a specific vehicle using the vehicle’s number plate.

The HPI Check protects car buyers from making a costly mistake confirming whether a vehicle on the market is recorded as stolen, has outstanding finance against it or has been written off.
