A RISING star in the world of fencing has been put forward for a Your Champions accolade.

Stephanie Collister, 17, a sixth-form Christleton High School student, has shown great determination to become the British Junior (under 20) foil champion, winning the title last October in Sheffield.

Philip Collister, who put Stephanie forward for the honour, said: “In March this year she represented Great Britain at the Cadet (U17) World Foil Championships in Moscow, where she came 10th.

“In February, she represented the Welsh Epee Team at the Junior (U20) Commonwealth Fencing Championships in Jersey and won team silver.

“At the end of the 2011-12 season, she was ranked second in the Great Britain Cadet (U17) foil rankings.

“She is a member of the Great Britain Fencing Academy and regularly attends their training events.

“As well as studying for her A-levels, she also trains for her fencing at least four times a week.”
