SISTERS who are campaigning for justice for the victims of one-punch manslaughter have been nominated for an award.

Eighteen-year-old Hannah Leffler and Aimee Leffler, 16, of Ellesmere Port, have been nominated in the Team Category for a Scottish Power/Trinity Mirror Cheshire award.

Hannah, whose dad Martin Leffler died after being punched outside the Old Red Lion Pub by Michael David Slack in December 2008, set up a facebook group and received thousands of pledges of online support.

Her online campaign ‘Justice for Martin Leffler and all other victims of one punch manslaughter’ has received support from across Britain.

The campaign seeks to strike a balance between the minimum sentence for manslaughter, 12 months, and the 15-year minimum sentence for murder.

Hannah campaign calls for people to show their support by signing a petition to Number 10 calling for tougher sentences online at petitions. number10.gov.uk/PriceofaPunch.

The petition was set up by Joanne Foster, whose boyfriend Neil McDonald was killed with one punch after enjoying a quiet drink with her in their native Macclesfield.

On January 22, John Anthony Cunningham, 30, was sentenced to nine years in prison at Chester Crown Court. But he could be free as early as February 2012 because of time served.
