A CHARITY which helps life-limited, disabled and underprivileged children go on the holiday of a lifetime has been put forward for a Your Champions accolade.

The Miles of Smiles appeal, which was launched through Chronicle newspapers back in 1992, regularly takes groups of children off to Disneyland Paris.

A dedicated committee of volunteers together with an army of individuals, groups, organisations and businesses have helped raised nearly £1m to help make dreams come true for hundreds of families.

As well as funding annual trips to Disneyland Paris and Lapland, the charity has supported other local charities and special schools and helped change many lives for the better.

Eira Hughes, who put forward Miles of Smiles for the award, said: “They are local people raising money to take local children on a brill holiday. The children are all disadvantaged one way or another.”

Everyone involved in the appeal works entirely on a voluntary basis so every penny donated or raised goes directly toward the next Disneyland Paris trip.
