AN ECO-FRIENDLY University of Chester student is in line to win a Your Champions award.

James Taylor, who is about to start his third year at the university, has been put forward for the Champion Volunteer of the Year for the work he has done in running the People and Planet Society, in particular through The Big Green Makeover project.

The green mission involved James leading a team to encourage staff and students to become more environmentally friendly on and off the campus.

Alice Elliott, who put James forward for the accolade, said: “Last year James ran the People and Planet Society to help make the university green, and more importantly and more of a challenge, students in their own accommodation!

“He really made The Big Green Makeover his own and it was enormously successful, winning over not just students but staff too.

“James is continuing to volunteer on The Big Green Makeover to help audit and green students’ behaviour at home.

“He is an asset to the university, an asset to Chester and a great help to me in my job as sustainability manager at the university.”
