COMMUNITY stalwart Olive Minors has been put forward as a candidate for this year’s Your Champions awards.

Mrs Minors has been nominated in the Champion Volunteer of the Year category for the annual Pioneer and ScottishPower accolades.

The vice president of the Hospice of the Good Shepherd is also chairwoman of Chester Guide Dogs for the Blind and has played significant roles in Chester Flower Club and the Mollington Support Group.

Mrs Minors, who lives in Mollington, has already received a prestigious accolade for her tireless community efforts this year, when she was named in the New Year Honours list and was made an MBE.

Receiving the news she had been nominated in this year’s Your Champions awards, Mrs Minors said: “I’m really shocked. It’s quite an honour.

“Just having an MBE was good enough and now to hear about this, it’s a great honour to be put forward and now we will see what happens!”
