Students and staff from St Winefride’s Primary School in Neston dressed up to support the British Heart Foundation’s Ramp up the Red Day.

The youngsters put on red clothes, wigs and hats, for the national fundraiser and raised £222.00.

The day was to raise awareness of the importance of looking after your heart, healthy eating and keeping active and to raise funds towards the important work of the British Heart Foundation in supporting heart research.

Two parents of children at the school, both nurses, were on hand to discuss the basic heart anatomy, how to keep active and factors towards heart health and answer any questions.

The children were also able to discuss risk factors that affected the heart.

A visual display resource board and table was available for both pupil and staff in the main hall of the school throughout the day, with information on it from BHF, including available Apps, such as the recipe finder.

A colouring competition, Find the Fruits, provided by the BHF, was arranged for the Key Stage 1 children , and the Key Stage 2 were asked to design their own poster to encourage healthy hearts.
