NINE-YEAR-OLD Noah Lee of Mickle Trafford has been treated at the Countess of Chester Hospital for bilateral cholesteatoma for the past five years.

During this time he has had 10 operations and spent a lot of time as a patient in the children’s ward.

His mum is certain the facilities within the children’s ward, in particular the sensory room, have helped toward Noah’s recovery.

An appeal is aiming to raise £18,000 to refurbish the room and provide new sensory toys and equipment.

In addition, a soft play area in the corner of the general playroom will be installed for babies and toddlers to use.

Noah decided to raise funds for the current sensory room and approached headteacher Julia Griffiths at Mickle Trafford Primary School for permission to hold a stall at this year’s summer fair in June.

He sold lots of his old toys, organised a treasure map game and sold decorated biscuits, and received further donations from family and neighbours.

“In total Noah raised £114 for the hospital, which was brilliant,” said fundraising manager Janet Ratcliffe.

Currently more than £14,000 has been raised and anybody wishing to make a donation can visit www.coch.nhs.uk or call the fundraising office on 01244 366240.
