THE bride looked radiant, the groom shuffled his feet and proud parents looked on.

But this was no ordinary wedding because the happy couple were both just five years old.

Sutton Green Primary School organised the make-believe marriage at St Paul's Church, Hooton to give youngsters an insight into what goes on when grown-ups tie the knot.

Headteacher Paul Jenkins said: 'Everyone really enjoyed it and I would like to thank the Rev David Sergeant, vicar of St Paul's, who was marvellous with the children.

'Mums helped out with the costumes and following the ceremony the children returned to school for a wedding breakfast including pretend pink champagne.

'They enjoyed a little disco in the afternoon and the happy couple were presented with their wedding presents. Lots of mums and helpers joined the congregation and there were plenty of tears of joy.'
