WITNESSES are being sought after a man burst into Sandiway Post Office and demanded cash from staff.

Police said the tall, thin offender, who was wearing dark clothing, entered the shop on School Lane and asked workers to empty the tills at 5.05pm last Tuesday, December 30.

But staff, who were behind protective security glass, refused and triggered an alarm, prompting the man to panic and flee empty-handed.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Gary Massey said no weapon was seen, but “it was implied there was a weapon”.

The offender met his “look-out” outside the post office and the pair, both white, ran off down School Lane in the direction of Weaverham Road.
