A WOMAN has died in a house fire in Ellesmere Port.

The blaze at the 64-year-old’s bungalow in Jubilee Green, Wolverham, is now being investigated by Cheshire police and county fire officers.

Three fire engines – two from the Port and one from Chester – were called to the semi-detached property at 1.24am on Monday.

Officers called in the aerial platform from Stockton Heath to help them douse the flames from above, while four crew members in breathing apparatus used a main jet from the ground. They remained on the scene until 3.30am.

A Cheshire Fire Service spokeswoman said: “A 64-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“We and the police are still investigating the incident.”
