THE Our Place area management team has organised a Stay Warm and Well campaign for older residents this winter.

Our Place area manager Dave Tai is looking to arrange about 750 visits in Ellesmere Port, to potentially vulnerable residents who may be facing a difficult time during the current cold spell – and also in case we have another prolonged cold spell after Christmas to the over sixties living alone or couples over 75.

Each person visited will be given a goody box containing simple items such as a torch, batteries, tea, coffee, stock cubes, chocolate drinks, hat, gloves and scarf – and a thermometer to help ensure they keep their homes, and themselves, adequately warm.

The aim of the visits is also to establish, through a short questionnaire, whether properties have fully working heating systems and that potentially vulnerable residents know how to use their heating to maximum benefit – and to ensure there are no issues that could adversely affect them come another prolonged cold spell.

Everyone visited – tenants and CWAC – will be assessed to see if they need a more detailed visit – which has been offered free by Plus Dane Group’s specially trained Beat the Chill officers.

The Our Place team would particularly like to thank Cllrs Pat Merrick, Justin Madders, Angela Claydon, Tony Sherlock, Paul Donovan, Kathy Lord, Bob Crompton and Brian Anderson for their generous contributions to this project

If you would like to nominate a vulnerable pensioner household to receive a visit, forward details to Dave Tai on 0151 356 6345 or by email david.tai@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk. The team hopes to distribute from week commencing December 13.
