A TECHNOLOGY firm based in Winsford has landed a £14m contract to provide parts for two brand new Ministry of Defence aircraft carriers.

The deal for Marine Systems Technology guarantees production at premises on Woodford Park Industrial Estate and an offshoot company in Middlewich.

MST won one of the most lucrative sub-contracts out of a £52m MoD pot to build two Queen Elizabeth Class Future Aircraft Carriers.

The company, which employs 33 members of staff in Mid Cheshire, will build water-tight fire doors for the crafts.

John Dover set up MST in 2004 with son Andrew and fellow director Alan Hall to develop a non-combustible composite system for ships and used Government grants of £127,000 and help from Business Link Cheshire.

He said: "We invested heavily in retaining jobs with this contract in mind, and for the future, and there will be some more high-skilled jobs created following today’s announcement."
