CHESTER City’s recent disappointing run continued on Saturday, when they slumped to a 3-0 reversal against Brentford at Griffin Park.

City have now lost six of their last nine games, but more worrying is that they have conceded 11 goals in their last four outings.

After conceding five goals at Morecambe on Boxing Day, City’s defence was again exposed as Alan Connell, Ross Montague and Glenn Poole all registered for the managerless Londoners.

Overall, this was a flat display by City and boss Bobby Williamson did not hide his feelings about the performance.

“It’s probably as bad a defeat as I have ever suffered as a manager, especially at this club,” he said.

“I am very disappointed for everyone concerned, the fans who came along in good numbers, I’m disappointed for the club directors who were here, and I’m disappointed for the players as they can do better and we’ve got to try and do it on Tuesday against Grimsby.

“When we did actually win anything we never had anybody to pick up the second ball as their midfield was on top and most of the balls up to the front players came back on top of us.

“Fortunately enough we only went in 1-0 at half time so we felt we still had a chance.”

City are next in action tomorrow when they face lowly Grimsby Town at the Deva Stadium.
