A BUDDING rock star from Whitby shared the stage with a 60s icon on his 12th birthday.

Whitby High School pupil Jack Parry’s mum is the niece of Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits.

So, after 12 months of guitar lessons, the family spotted a golden opportunity.

Jack, of Clare Drive, Whitby, practiced two songs by his famous relative until he was ready to perform them to an audience of about 800 people on Friday at Venue Cymru, Llandudno.

His dad John Parry, 51, said: “Peter was over from America and he said just learn to strum a couple of the records. It think Jack surprised them by playing them right through.

“Peter said to the sound man ‘make sure his amp is turned up so he can be heard’. People were getting his autograph at the end.”

Jack, watched by his family, became a memorable part of The Solid Silver Sixties Show 2012 starring Peter Noone, Chris Montez, Brian Hyland, Brian Poole and Vanity Fare.

“They were trying to get him to do another performance,” added John. “They are trying to get him on in Derby and Wolverhampton.”

The Whitby High School pupil is preparing for his next performance on stage – as the tin man in a school production of The Wizard of Oz.
