AN EVENT marking women and their achievements will take place at West Cheshire College to mark International Women’s Day next week.

The annual event – to be held on Thursday, March 8 – celebrates women and their achievements across the world.

The college will be offering a variety of activities, including free hair and nail treatments, alternative therapies, sexual health, general health and living advice.

Students from high schools will read inspirational poems and female visitors will be provided with free refreshments.

Everyone is welcome to attend the event, taking place from 11am-1pm.

Cheshire West and Chester Council is also staging a range of events across the borough, including a ‘Story Café’ in the Unity Centre, Cuppin Street, Chester, on the day at 10.30am.

Participants will be able to share poetry and tell stories while enjoying a cup of coffee.

The council’s equality and diversity champion, Cllr Razia Daniels, said: “I think it’s fantastic that we are celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women across the globe and also looking to the future.”
