A FORMER student of Helsby Grammar School is hoping to organise a reunion half a century after the school first opened.
Stuart Nickson is currently tracking down his old classmates to invite them to a celebration marking the 50th anniversary of the school.
He turned to the Weekly News to help him contact those who attended Helsby Grammar in its very first year.
'I've managed to contact a handful of people already,' said Mr Nickson.
'But it would be nice if we could get in touch with a few more to really make the celebration one to remember.
'I would like to contact everyone who started Helsby Grammar when it opened in 1951.
'A lot of people came from Runcorn, Helsby and Frodsham and some lived in the Ellesmere Port area.'
Members of form 3B who Mr Nickson would like to contact include Norman Green, Frank Dawson, Duncan Ford, Brian Skidmore, Ian Lovell, Grange Shallcross, Ray Barnett, Danny Weedon, Keith Duncalf, Roger Ankers and Terence O'Neil.
Tom Marrop and Ian Tickle were also members of the same class.
Mr Nickson also remembers two classmates with the surnames Robinson and Harvey.
He added: 'There are others who were in the same year but were in different forms. I'd really like to get in touch with those people, too.'
Former students include Roy Medlicott, Clifford Orme, Ken Povey, Keith Tudor, Beverley Walker, David Lewellyn Jones, John Davies, Peter Carman, Geoffrey Leonard, Johnny Thompson, Eric Downard, Christopher Toft, Ian Ball and Ray Spencer.
