MEMBERS of the public will be asked for their views on plans for a community garden at the former Dane Nurseries site in Northwich.

Vale Royal Borough Council, in partnership with Groundwork Cheshire, is asking residents to take part in a community design day to help develop ideas for a much-needed community building as part of the ‘Grozone’ project.

The scheme proposes a community garden on the old site of the council nursery, off Whalley Road, which has been derelict for 15 years.

The project team is keen to hear ideas on what the building should look like and what features it should include.

The proposed community garden will need a building to include toilets, a community kitchen, classroom, office and equipment store.

Project manager Beth Brockett, of Groundwork Cheshire, said: “Community involvement and access is very important, which is why we are asking the people of Northwich to give their views.”

The community design day is at Victoria Road Primary School on Sunday, from 11am-1pm. For details, call Beth Brockett on 01606 723160.
