AN 18-year-old man has been remanded in custody charged with the rape of deaf woman at Nantwich.
Simon Jay Roberts, of Baronia Place, Nantwich, will appear at Chester Crown Court on September 25, charged with the offence against the 35-year-old Nantwich woman.
The alleged attack on the 35-year-old woman took place in the Love Lane car park in the early hours of Sunday, September 9 as she was on her way home after a night our with friends in town centre pubs.
An incident room was set up in Nantwich police station to help CID officers in their investigations and a police incident caravan was sited on the car park near to where the incident took place.
Detective Inspector Neil Ellwood, who took charge of the investigation said: We would like to thank the public and press for their help in this case.
The short, slightly built Roberts, who was arrested on September 12, appeared at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Friday when Jane Large, prosecuting, said that any appeal for bail would be opposed. Roberts, who has issued no formal plea, was remanded in custody until Monday when he was further remanded to appear at Chester.
