CREWE singer Tandie Stahl is keeping her fingers crossed as she waits to hear if she will be singing live on national TV this Saturday.

Tandie, the winner of the Starquest champion of champions title at Crewe Carnival earlier this year, beat more than 100,000 hopefuls to be the last girl eliminated from ITV's X Factor talent show before the final 12 acts were selected.

Tandie, 20, of Brooklands Grove, impressed 16-24 category mentor and judge Simon Cowell so much that he described her as 'a breath of fresh air'.

Last Saturday, Xtra Factor viewers were given the chance to vote for their favourite of two acts to return to the stage and belt out a tune live in front of millions this weekend.

The Return of the X competition, featured clips of Tandie's original audition for this year's show, where she wowed panellists Mr Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh with her rendition of Sandie Thom's I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker.

Regular viewers will remember that during the performance, Tandie's grandmother, Hazel Jacklin, 77, had to be brought in to stop her from giggling.

Tandie now faces a nail-biting wait to find out whether she will be returning to London this weekend to perform the Mariah Carey hit All I Want For Christmas Is You.

Health care assistant and garage worker Tandie said: 'I would love to get this chance to show people what I can really do.

'A lot of people say it's their dream to stand up there and perform but music really is my life and without it I'm nothing.'

Her mum, Shirley, said: 'We're on edge at the moment waiting for the phone to ring.

'It will be absolutely fantastic if she gets to sing on TV. It's all her grandmother ever wanted for her.'

'Either way she will definitely be auditioning again next year and hopefully she'll get to go all the way to the top. We are all really proud of her.'

* Viewers can find out whether Tandie made the show by watching the Xtra Factor on ITV2 at 8.10pm on Saturday.
