A 23-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at Weaverham Co-op.

Police said a man ran into the Northwich Road store at around 9.50pm on Tuesday, January 6 with a six inch kitchen knife and jumped over the counter, demanding money from the till.

The 17-year-old male worker refused to hand over any cash but was unhurt after the offender grabbed alcohol and cigarettes and fled.

The suspect, who lives in Weaverham, was arrested the following day, Wednesday, and released on police bail until February 25.
