DEAN SAUNDERS’ Wrexham rebuilding job continued last night after striker Patrick Suffo completed his move and defender Ashley Westwood signed on until the end of the season.

Cameroon international Suffo, who last week agreed a short-term deal at the Racecourse, has now been cleared to play for the Dragons after the FA of Wales finally tracked down his registration paperwork in Spain.

Suffo, who won an Olympic gold medal with Cameroon at the Sydney Games in 2000, travelled to Weymouth with the rest of the squad last weekend, but his international clearance failed to materialise.

Last night the striker said: “It was disappointing to miss out last Saturday, but the boys did well and the most important thing was the three points, which made the long journey home all the better for everyone.

“Now I’m looking forward to getting my chance and I can’t wait to start playing football again.”

Westwood, 32, initially signed until the end of December, was among the first of the players recruited by incoming Saunders last month. He recently said he would be happy to see out his career with the club.
