EIGHT travel and tourism students from West Cheshire College in Ellesmere Port have secured jobs as holiday representatives with Thomas Cook following a recruitment drive at the College.

The travel company came to the college for the second year running to hold a recruitment day in preparation for their summer season.

The students will undergo a week’s training in Majorca before being allocated a destination within Europe to work in for the summer months. The students had to go through a rigorous interview process which included delivering a presentation and role play scenarios.

Jason Bradshaw, 21, from Chester, who is studying a HND in Travel and Tourism, is one of the students to be selected as a Holiday Representative.

He said: “The tutors really helped me to prepare for the recruitment day and I was able to put everything I have learnt into practice during the interview.”

Heather Tinker, travel and tourism tutor, said: “The students will learn so much from having the hands-on experience and the skills learnt from their vocational course will really benefit them in their role.”
