A STUDENT slapped a woman at a party in such a way that it ripped the earring out of her ear.

Jason Evans, 18, of Ince Lane, Elton, admitted attacking Lucy Rowe on August 22.

Magistrates at Chester, Ellesmere Port and Neston Magistrates Court heard Evans had attended a house party to which he wasn’t invited and was asked to leave.

There was a verbal altercation and Rowe remonstrated with Evans, when he slapped her in the face, leaving her with a cut ear and the earring ripped out.

Steven Ferns, defending, said Evans was a young man who had admitted his guilt and had lashed out following derogatory remarks to himself.

Mr Ferns said: “It was very much a one-off incident.”

Magistrates said the injury to Rowe was an aggravating factor and intentional.

They handed Evans a 12-month community order, under which he must complete 60 hours of unpaid work.

Evans was also ordered to pay £100 compensation to Rowe, plus a total of £150 costs.

An additional charge of threatening behaviour was dropped.
