Student from Ellesmere Port raises £200 for cancer research

A BUDDING baker has raised hundreds for charity.

Charlotte Allmand, 12, an Abbey Gate College student from Ellesmere Port, organised an afternoon tea, in memory of her grandad, to raise funds for cancer research.

With the help of her friend Jessica Swindells, of Whitby High School, Charlotte raised more than £200 by serving homemade cakes and staging a raffle.

The duo invited friends of the family, neighbours and close relatives, many of whom have had friends and relatives affected by cancer.

Charlotte’s grandad Keith died of pancreatic cancer in February.
