FRODSHAM has successfully bid to join the select group of Cheshire high schools awarded Specialist School status.
From September the school will become a technology college, specialising in the teaching of science, mathematics, technology and information communication technology.
Headteacher Brian Boyle said: "The school's new status will provide a springboard for us to develop as a centre of excellence for these vital areas of learning.
"By improving in these specialisms we will not only benefit our pupils, teachers and feeder schools, but also the whole of the Frodsham community, through better adult learning facilities."
Frodsham's success will also benefit its three partner high schools, Verdin in Winsford, Whitby in Ellesmere Port and Kingsway in Chester.
"As far as our partner schools are concerned the aim, through joint projects, will be to raise numeracy and literacy levels, the quality of teaching and post-16 take up," said Mr Boyle.
