NORTHWICH Sapphires continue to find the target on three fronts in the Warrington and District League.

The Sapphires, who train at Woodford Lodge High School in Winsford, have three senior teams playing in separate divisions.

The first and third teams both won recently while last week saw Northwich Sapphires 2 earn a thrilling draw with Saints 1.

Hazel Handley claimed the player-of-the- match plaudits in the 27-27 draw which put the seconds up to fourth in Division One.

Northwich Sapphires 1 are second in the Premier League while the thirds are also in runners-up spot in Division Two.

The club meets for weekly training sessions every Monday from 7.30-9.30pm at the Winsford school with players aged from 16 to 50 taking part.

A club spokeswoman said: “We are happy to accept players of any ability as long as they are keen to improve and support the development of the club.

“We also have a thriving junior section with players from the ages of seven to 16 and an increasing number of people volunteering to support the junior players.”
