OLYMPIC medallists Duncan Goodhew MBE and David Davies joined ITV Wales newscaster Lucy Owen to encourage swimmers across North Wales to sign up for Butlins Swimathon 2005 in aid of NCH Cymru, the children's charity.

And 20 from across North Wales participated in a 'Make a splash with Duncan' swimming session.

They were cheered on by Butlin's Redcoats, Cedric the fluffy NCH Mascot Dragon and NCH Cymru fundraisers at the launch poolside.

The celebrity lesson was held to encourage people throughout the area to enter Butlins Swimathon 2005, being held from March 19-27.

Swimathon participants in the area will be raising funds for NCH Cymru in selected North Wales swimming pools.

Organisers are hoping that swimmers from every county in North Wales will take part in this year's Butlin's Swimathon.

So far, there are five, including Wrexham Waterworld.
