A GANG of men had what looked like a shotgun sticking out of a car window as they sped away from an Ellesmere Port estate.

At 3am on Sunday a resident heard noises coming from outside her home in Redhills Mews.

When she opened the front door to investigate she was confronted by two masked men in dark clothing.

The woman shouted at the duo who retreated to a dark-coloured car, thought to be a Vauxhall Cavalier or Vectra, which was parked in the street.

Three other men were sitting inside the vehicle and as the gang reversed to flee from the scene they collided with a parked car.

The rear nearside window was smashed from the inside and a long thin object, which resembled the barrel of a shotgun, was seen to be sticking out.

Police say no gun shots were fired and they cannot be 100% sure the object was a firearm.

But they are urging witnesses or anyone with information to come forward and contact Detective Constable Mike Beamish on 01244 613150 or Crimestoppers on 0800 55511.
