A SECURITY guard was robbed at knife-point outside a cash and carry warehouse near Ellesmere Port.

The victim was delivering money to Costco in Dunkirk at 4.30pm on Wednesday when he was threatened by a man with a bladed weapon.

The thief stole a cassette containing a large quantity of cash before escaping from the scene in a silver 3 Series BMW which was occupied by a number of men.

As a result of the incident the security guard was left suffering from shock but unharmed.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “We are appealing for any persons who witnessed the incident, saw anything suspicious in the area, or believe they saw the silver BMW car involved to contact our specialist investigation unit.”

This is the second incident to hit the Costco warehouse in just two months.

In October, three armed crooks used a ‘cherry-picker’ to ram-raid the warehouse.

Although the thieves gained entry to the building after punching a seven-foot-high hole in it, they were unsuccessful in their search and fled the scene empty-handed in a silver 5 Series BMW.

If you witnessed the robbery or have any information, call police on 01244 613165 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555111.
