The annual cricket match between St  Mary’s Church, Tilston and St Edith’s  Church, Shocklach took place on  Tilston Playing Field.

Last year Tilston won  for the first  time in years and were hopeful of  retaining the cup while Shocklach were  equally determined to get it back.

It was a hard fought match which  kept going despite the frequent showers  ending with  a resounding win for  Tilston with a score of 128 - 87 net.

At the end of the game Jerry Mobbs,  captain of Shocklach presented the cup  back to Tilston Captain John Smith  ready to display it in The Carden Arms.

The man of the match was Rupert Parry.

It was a good natured afternoon and thanks were given to the ladies who provided the afternoon tea and special thanks were given to the playing field committee, particularly Dave and Val Roberts, who ensured the pavilion and field were very well prepared for the game.

Thanks also went to Alan Ricketts who prepared the cricket pitch and umpired the game.
